Zachary last summer before rejection

DONOR SWAP… If you have already have been tested for Zachary and were not a match. There are other options to better chance to find a Kidney for Zachary. It is called the “Paired Exchange”  program. All you need to do is call the Transplant center at the U of M 612 625-2186… If you have already been tested for Zachary and was not a match they can still use your blood from the 1st draw. Zachary is having a better day.. He is still pretty sleepy and his blood pressures are still high . He is running  130/90’s a Little better but still way to high.

The last couple days i have been preparing Zachary for his surgery on Monday. He has had so many but as he gets  older he has more questions. It is getting hard to explain to him because he is understanding so much more. No child should have to go through so much. I just pray that his body can handle another surgery.

I will update every couple hours on Monday during his surgery so watch for updates.

Please pray for Zachary to say healthy  this week for his surgery next week.

Zachary is still very tired and cranky.. Nothing is making him happy

Zachary had his labs drawn today.. The results .. Well, his Ammonia which was very high on Monday is very low.. Crazy.. Why, I am not sure I am waiting for the Dr. to call back. I guess I would rather have it low then I high. The point is the rest of Zachary’s labs are off. His body is not sure what to do and it is coming down to the point that he needs a new Kidney. Zachary blood pressures are high again 140/92 !! So you guessed it, his creatinine is back down.. We can never go off his labs.. We have to go off of how he is feeling and how he looks. He looks awful and feels awful !! I think I would to if I was on as many medications as he is on. I think he is down to 36 meds.. Not sure I just make sure he gets them.

Next Monday Zachary is going in for another surgery to repair his Mitrofanoff and his lower unit. This is going to be a hard surgery for him because they need to re-open him again down the middle and around the belly button. Zachary is only 6 yrs. old and has had over 30 surgeries !! I quite counting 2 yrs. ago… I am thinking we are probably at about 45 surgeries , not sure but the point is no child should have to go through this much. I keep thinking and telling my self that Zachary choose us to be his Mommy and daddy .. He is here for a reason, he has brought so many people together .

Zachary resting

Zachary is still very tired.. He has been sleeping since Friday only a wake for maybe 1 hour at a time. I brought him to his primary Dr today and they drew labs.. The Drs called and one of his labs was very elevated.. It was his Ammonia.. With a high Ammonia level you can be very tired and it means that Zachary’s Kidney is getting worse.. The Dr is also adding more labs to be draw and a ultrasound of his Liver. A high Ammonia could also mean that his Liver is having issues. I just pray that we find a HERO soon…

We talked with the local paper today and they are running a story on Zachary in the ABC paper on Friday . We are also going to contact the News stations to help us find him a Kidney. Please Keep passing the word about Zachary…..

Please also pray for Riley and his family.. We meet Riley last March, when Zachary was in the hospital. Riley was a Brave boy waiting for a heart.  He waited for a year living down at the U of M waiting for that call to save his life !! His family never got the call, and Riley passed away.. He never got his Heart.. He never got that second chance at life..  He was just 4 years old!! DONATE LIFE !! Please Pray for him…

Zachary and Austin had a party Saturday night

Wade is still in Montana with his family. Grandma Bernice is still in the hospital holding on, What a tough lady she is…. Now I know were Zachary gets his spirit and his well to live …… Wade is planning on  flying  home tomorrow.

Zachary has been feeling pretty pukey and very tired this whole weekend. He also has had bloody urine since Saturday. I am a little worried. …

The plan this week is to re-draw his labs again and see what his little body is doing… Next Monday, March 8th Zachary is having another big surgery to fix his Mitrofanoff and to repair his lower unit. I have no clue how long he will be in… I just pray that his body is strong enough to have another big surgery. Iwish this surgery was for a new kidney. but I know this surgery needs to be done before he does have another Transplant.

I want to thank everybody for all your thoughts and prayers.. Zachary has touched so many people, and has taught us to hug a little tighter and to take your time and stop and smell the Roses. We live day to day and we never know what tomorrow will bring. We just enjoy each day that has been given to us.

Zachary is having a good day… He has been very tired and watching lots of movies.  It is so nice to see him smile and laugh… It still seems like almost every other day is good and bad. I can’t wait until everyday is good. It is so hard to watch him get sicker and sicker. His blood pressure have been good , but his labs are not the best. He is still not sleeping at night , so either am I.  He is not really eating so he is 100% dependent on his J-tube feeds. His favorite food is cheese and if you know the kidney , cheese is not a good food for your Kidney.  Zachary still vomits daily .. Some days all day and others not so much.

Zachary will be having another surgery on March 8th at the U of M.. They will be fixing his Mitrofanoff that has some false tracks and is starting to cave in.. They are also going to repair his lower unit.. Zachary had a hypo-spadious when he was a baby.  They repaired it when he was 2 yrs old. Well, It broke loose and now he has some holes that need to be closed. Not Fun..

The Brave Little Soul

Not too long ago in Heaven there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day however the little soul was sad, for on this day he saw suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, “Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?” God paused for a moment and replied, “Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people’s hearts.” The little soul was confused. “What do you mean,” he asked. God replied, “Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone.” The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, “The suffering soul unlocks the love in people’s hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their heart, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this – it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer – to unlock this love – to create this miracle for the good of all humanity.”

Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied. “I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people’s hearts! I want to create that miracle!” God smiled and said, “You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you”. God and the brave soul shared a smile, and then embraced.

In parting, God said, “Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough, just say the word, think the thought, and you will be healed.” Thus at that moment the brave little soul was born into the world, and through his suffering and God’s strength, he unlocked the goodness and love in people’s hearts. For so many people dropped their differences and came together to show their love. Priorities became properly aligned. People gave from their hearts. Those that were always too busy found time. Many began new spiritual journeys, some regained lost faith – many came back to God. Parents hugged their children tighter. Friends and family grew closer. Old friends got together and new friendships were made. Distant family reunited, and every family spent more time together. Everyone prayed. Peace and love reigned. Lives changed forever. It was good. The world was a better place. The miracle had happened. God was pleased.
