Here is the plan…Labs are not getting any better.. The plan is to wait until tomorrow and check his creatinine”kidney function” again… If he is still high they will do a Kidney Biopsy . If he is in rejection….”Which I will cry”. Then we will hit this rejection HARD and hopefully stop it again! They are drawing blood cultures again because he spiked another fever. They are starting him on antibiotics to cover every thing possible that could cause his fever. These Transplant kids are immune suppressed and don’t have the fighting power like you or I have. They sometimes need extra help to fight these Bugs… Its like putting Zachary in a boxing ring with his hands tied behind his back and say fight… His body can’t fight back. Overall, he is doing great ! He is very very bored and wants to go to school… Mrs Cotter, Zachary is missing you and talking non-stop about school. This picture is Zachary in the ER yesterday.. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers,

UPDATE…10:30am Labs worse… just waiting for dr to come in with a plan. 8:30am ….. Zachary slept pretty good last night… A little restless coughing, feeling dizzy and puky this morning. His fever did break last night but now he is starting to creep up again. They are planning to do another chest x-ray to see if he aspirated again. “He has a very wet junky cough”. Since then Zachary has had aspiration Pneumonia about 7 times…. Not good. Overall, he is doing great….. I am just very anxious for lab results.

Zachary had his labs drawn this morning and his creatinine (Kidney function) took a jump… I was a little concerned , so we headed to the hospital . Well, the Dr didn’t like his labs either so they admitted him. We are not sure what is going on… It could be that he is dry, from his new med he started, rejection from the flu shot or he could be getting sick from a infection. We are not sure…. I am praying that he is just dry…. so hopefully we will be in and out. Please pray for no REJECTION… Zachary’s video.. Please watch. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers,

Sorry for no updates… Zachary is doing AMAZING! The Drs added another Blood pressure medication and now his blood pressures are 100/60! After 1 yr of struggling with high blood pressure he finally has a normal BP! Zachary is still loving school , but is very very tired after….. He loves his teacher , so that really helps him get through his days. Tomorrow he has his labs drawn again… I am a little worried because the new medication they put him on can cause the creatinine (Kidney Function) to be elevated….. He also had his Flu shot last week.. Last yr when he got his Flu shot he went into rejection 2 week later. “The bad” if his creatinine his elevated, we won’t know which one is causing it. I just pray that his labs are stable with no change. Overall, he is AMAZING and doing great !

One Yr ago today this is what i wrote…. This last yr Zachary has had may struggles, but have proved to us and these doctors that he is here for a reason and is one tough KID! Today I have talked to a couple of people that don’t under stands what exactly is going on with Zachary.. When Zachary was 11 months old he had a kidney Transplant that His Daddy my Husband donated. Almost 2 yrs later Zachary started to have a rise in his creatinine Kidney Function and his blood pressures started to go up. They did a biopsy and confirmed that he was in chronic Kidney failure. They upped his blood pressure meds and have just been keeping an eye on it. Well, September 30 of this year I brought Zachary in to the hospital because he had a creatinine of 1.4. Normal is 0.3-0.7 for his age. Zachary’s base line is 0.8. The DRS did a biopsy and it showed that Zachary was in Acute, Chronic and Antibody rejection. Zachary had 7 rounds of Plasmapheresis and IVIG. He also did high dose 110mg a day of steroids for 5 days. Zachary is still in Acute and Chronic rejection. They have doubled his Prednosone, immuran and his Neroal. In hopes to suppress his immune system enough to give this Kidney enough time for his body to settle down. Zachary’s Kidney is not a good Kidney he has significant scaring and his blood vessels in the Kidney are restricted and not getting good blood flow and 30% of the kidney is getting none. We just can’t Transplant him and give a new kidney. All we know is that Zachary doesn’t have a great Kidney and all we can do is wait and see what is body is going to do. We pray that it will last for EVER. Chances are mostly not. But we can have hope and pray. Zachary is also on 34 medications every day just to keep this kidney working. He is also on VERY High Immunosuppression Meds, which is not good long term. They worry about PTLD Which is post transplant cancer. And they worry about the nasty side effects. I still cry thinking about how much my little boy has been through… He has taught me so much about life and to stop and enjoy each day. Thank you for your thoughts and prays, Stacey So my point is, Zachary’s Kidney is working enough to keep him going for now. BUT it is a very damaged Kidney.
