WOW ! AMAZING !! GREAT!! WONDERFUL!! Zachary had an AWESOME DAY! He RAN, RODE HIS BIKE,PLAYED BASEBALL and JUMPED ON THE TRAMP!

We are thinking back in September 2009, when Zachary was going through rejection he had his Mitrofanoff repaired. His tummy has been hard in the middle since, but the Drs. kept saying that it was scar tissues. He has felt like crap with no energy, very puky, not eating, low grade fevers and very restless. All the Drs. kept saying is he is in Kidney failure. Well, He is… and his levels are not the greatest but, he should not of felt as sick as he was feeling.

Long story short… He got very sick 2 weeks ago with an abscess in his tummy that rupture. He was on 3 different IV antibiotics and came home on oral Antibiotics. 2 weeks later Zachary is a NEW Kid! I have my Zachary back ! His tummy is soft ..so it was not scar tissue. He most likly had an infection brewing this whole time until his body couldn’t take it anymore and had to try to fight it with a 105.4 fever.

It’s so crazy because the last 8 months Zachary looked and felt like a Crap. He was to sick to even go to Kindergarten and had to be home schooled. His tummy is nice and soft, He’s eating ,riding his bike and living life again ! he was so active today that his poor legs are very swollen. Now that darn Kidney needs to start to work !

Tomorrow we are going to watch Toy Story 3 with HopeKids.

John Hopkins call today… They have looked over Zachary’s Medical records since rejection. They said with his PRA and Donor antibodies so high that he has no chance of finding a kidney right now. The plan is to send his blood to there hospital. They have the best antibody and Tissues typing machine in the US to do more testings to see why his levels are so high. They have never seen a child with his Donor Antibodies as high as his.

We are working on writing an Appeal letter because Zachary’s insurance will not pay for us to go there. The plan is to run some blood work and see if they will accept him into there program.

We go to Mayo in Rochester June 30…They are saying the same as John Hopkins and I am praying that they will work together so we can stay closer to home. John Hopkins still wants us to come out for a visit, we are just waiting on his insurance to approve it.

Nights are still very restless..With lots of screaming. Now I think he is so sleep deprived that anxiety is starting to play apart in his sleep issues. We are back down at the U of M tomorrow to talk about another plan for his sleep issue.

Yesterday I brought Zachary to famous foot wear because his shoes are to tight. I felt so bad.. I was squeezing him into a size 10 but he measured at almost a 13 ! He grew almost 3 sizes in less than 6 months ! AMAZING !! Kidney Kids are smaller and when you are in Kidney Failure you don’t grow. Well, Zachary is growing and getting bigger !!

More Good NEWS!! He is starting to eat about 300cals a day by mouth !! We are so excited ! He need to be very careful when he eats by mouth because he aspirates from above and below. He has had aspirating Pneumonia about 7 times since his Nissenfundelplaction Take down when the Drs. Perforated his stomach Feb 2009. He is making AWESOME progress !!

Overall, He is doing great. I am still waiting on a call back from the Drs. about his Mitrofanoff site where his Abscess is. It’s looking better but seems to be getting deeper into the track.

Zach had his Drs today w/ his Kidney Dr.. All Testing to see if you can donate a kidney to Zachary is on hold. That is why nobody is getting test kits or call backs. Zachary’s antibodies are to high for a donor. They are not sending out anymore test kits until they come down to a safe level.

The Kidney Dr is also very happy with how his kidney recovered from his infection last week. All of his levels are back to where they were before the infection. Zachary is stable and his Kidney function is holding it’s own. We pray that his Kidney heals and his function doesn’t deteriorate until his Antibodies levels come down to give Zachary more time with this kidney.

The Dr. did mention 3 different times on how thankful there are for all the promoting about Organ Donation and the need for kidneys. There have been many people that were saved because of Zachary’s story.

We are HOME !!!! We got home on Friday afternoon.

Zachary was so excited when we got home!! He played out side all afternoon into the evening. He is feeling great ! The one thing that worries me is he is up 6lbs full of fluid and his legs are looking like tree trunks. He is very swollen. I am thinking that he needs the IV lasix. I just gave him another dose of oral Lasix, so hopefully we can get rid of some fluid.

This picture is Zachary standing in front of his room. This hospital stay he got to stay in 1 of the “Adopt a Rooms”.

Thank you for all your prayers.. It is so nice to be home as a family again. This was 1 of our shortest stays, but when your in, it feels like forever.

Please pray for Zachary to Pee and for his body to get rid of the extra fluid so he is not so swollen.
