Help Zachary      Zach needs a new kidney!!!
Archive for January, 2010

Zachary had a pretty good night…. Yesterday we brought Zach to see his Kidney Dr. because he has been so tired since Friday. Well, see looked at him and said he looks Awful! He is dehydrated, Anemic,  Malnourished and the x-ray he had on Saturday in the ER was Awful and that most likely he is still full of poop. WOW!! That was a lot to take in……… So from clinic he was directly admitted to 5A. When we got up here another Dr. looked at him and said he looks fine and he is not dry, he just looks very tired…….. WOW! 2 Drs. with 2 totally different diagnoses…. The 1 Dr wanted to start Zach back on TPN , IV fluids and Go-litley again….. But we we got up here there plans changed.  They did another x-ray that showed he was not full of poop and only did 1 boules of IV fluids. The Dr that is on is more worried about EBV or CMV … Zachary is very immune suppressed so his body can catch  these viruses a lot easier .  Zachary was positive for 2 yrs. after Transplant for EBV . He had many  full body cat scan  because EBV is very dangerouse and can turn into PTLD  if not treated Which is cancer… The Drs. have always been a little worried because Zach does have 2 enlarged Lympnoids in his neck… they have not turned into anything and have not grown in size , which is good…..

Overall he is looking much better and even walked last night around the halls…. He did more walking last night than he has since Thursday.  The plan….. I am not sure.. it seems like he is here for no reason and they are just waiting for lab results. I am assuming if everything is Negative , we will be on our way home. That would be AWESOME…. This wil be one of our shortest stays ever if everything is Negative.

Please pray for Negative results

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers,

Stacey

IV fluids on board… sleepy… but playing the Play station… It’s all good… :) Zach is back in because he has been sleeping since friday… They are worried that he has EBV or CMV which is not good ..EBV is related and can turn into PTLD Which is cancer in these Transplants kids. PRAY for NO EBV or CMV … We should get his levels back in 2 days. His labs look OK and he is poop FREE !! GOTA LOVE THE GO-LYTLY….

Thank you for all your prayers…

Sorry for the lack of updates,……  This year is NOT starting out to be a good year…On Friday last week Zachary was really tired all day and fell a sleep for the night by 6pm. Than Saturday he woke up having lots of back and chest pain . I was worried so I brought him to the U of M. He slept the whole drive and visit . They did X-rays that confirmed another bowel obstruction… Not good  :( ……. They started him on Go-lytley to get his bowels moving … and than he had great results that night ! Last time he was on Go-Lytley for 3 days before any results.!  Today is Monday and he is still very sleepy and just doesn’t look good. Ever since he went into rejection in October , he has not looked good and seems to have very little energy.   His Blood pressures are high AGAIN!! Today he woke up with a blood pressure of 133/96 !!  YUCK….  So tomorrow we are heading back to the U of M to see his Kidney DR to come up with a plan. They are also talking about doing further testing to see if Christine “HERO” is a match.

We are also talking about going back to Mayo for another opinion …on GI issues…and talk about what they think about this whole Kidney rejection and Transplant.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers,

Stacey
