Zachary went into Antibody , Acute and Chronic rejection September 30, 2009, He developed very high class 2 Antibodies . Zachary’s kidney is to damaged to repair, and with his high Antibodies it is going to be very difficult to find him a new Kidney. This was not a great year for Zachary… Zachary had many surgeries, horrifying complication and countless hospital stays. Zachary spent months in the hospital this year. They perforated his stomach back in February when he had a re-do Nissenfundoplaction. Since then He has had aspirating pneumonia 5 times! Zachary also went into Antibody, Acute and chronic rejection September 30, 2009. This is very rare to have all 3 of these rejections all at once. Zachary went through 7 treatments of Plasmapheresis, 7 treatments of IVIG he was on a 7 day course of very high 110 mg of steroids. This treatment was very very hard on Zachary’s body. Zachary even had a breathing reaction during his 1st treatment of plasmapheresis and he fought through 6 more rounds. The treatment did stop the rejection, but Zachary’s body took a beating and his kidney was to damaged to repair. This was very hard on all of us to hear this news. Because of the rejections Zachary had, he developed VERY high class 2 antibodies…. 92%… That means that he has only a 8% chance of finding a match. There has been over 50 HERO’S that have called in and so far,

and no one has matched. The Drs. said that it could take 100s of people to get tested to find that one HERO… I know that the one HERO is out there somewhere… I pray for 2010 and be the year that we will find that one HERO to save our Zachary.

Overall Zachary is hanging in there.. Yesterday he had a Drs. appointment down at the U of M . We are discussing about Zachary having another surgery to fix his Mitrofanoff. On Tuesday Zachary will have a dye study in his Mitrofanoff to see how many false passages that he has. If he has more then 2, he will have to be re-opened to fix it as soon as possible. That means that he will have surgery the 1st week in January. If the Dr feels that he can wait to fix it , then we will try to wait until March. The Drs. worry because Zachary’s body is not healthy and he is very immune suppressed. I will update more after Tuesday about the results.
