We are still home and are very thankful… Zachary’s blood pressures are very high 140/95! I don’t like them that high. Zachary has labs on Monday and Wednesday this week and than he has a break until next Monday.

Today we went to a HopeKids event and had lunch with Santa.. It is so nice to talk to other families going through day to day struggles just like us. Zachary had so much fun playing the Wii and running around with the other Kids. Austin was very clingy and was scared of Santa this time. Last Weekend when we saw Santa he tackled him down because he was so excited but now he is scared. Thank you Josh.. we all had a blast!

I also want to thank everybody for all your thoughts and prayers.. Zachary has so many people that have come forward and want to get tested and see if they will be Zach’a HERO!! We are so thankful for everybody.

Zachary is A +

Thank you for all your Prayers,
Stacey

Update… now Zachary’s blood pressure are 150/99!!! Not liking!! His creatinine “Kidney function level” is 1.5!!! from 2.2-2.5 love that level, but it is a false lab because his BP’S is so high.. this happened last time he had high BP’S His creatinine level was low as soon as they got his BP’S down we took a huge jump. That rest of his labs are not the best. On November 30, Zachary is going to be admitted at the U of M for a week for some more testing. We were going to have a big last 5 yr Kidney Transplant party on December 1.. I guess we will have to have it in the Hospital. December 1, 2004 my wonderful husband Zachary’s daddy gave his the best gift ever!@!! he gave him one of his Kidneys. Now 5 yrs later Zachary is in Kidney failure and we are just starting to get the ball rolling on testing people to find a new Kidney for Zachary.

This will be Zachary again!!! Hopefully next summer!!!

Zachary is doing pretty good….. He is still throwing up and feels sick every morning. Yesterday he asked me twice about How excited he is to get a new Kidney and not feel sick anymore. He is only 5 yrs old and I feel helpless….His energy is up and down some days he is very hyper and runs crazy and other days he just lays in front of the TV with a puke bucket in front of him. Overall he is in good spirits and I still get to see that wonderful smile every day.

Today the nurse comes out to draw his Friday labs.. I pray that they stay the same or have gotten better….Also last night Zachary had very high Blood pressures 140/96!!!! I have not seen it that high in about 3 weeks. I am a little worried, so I am once again waiting for a call back from the Doctor.

At about 4AM Zachary woke up and was complaining that he was dizzy so I checked his blood sugar and it was good 92.. He is on 24 hr j-tube feed and his Glucose is usally 110-130 because he is also getting food none stop. on Wednesday his Glucose had dropped to 46!! he was very dizzy and his heart was pounding.

Hopefully next week we will have the ball rolling to start testing people.. Zachary is A+ and his antibodies are very very high! they are still running and Dr Najara is very concerned. After Zach’s Plamsapheresis his Antibodies were 91% now they are thinking that he is a lot higher. Yesterday i got a call from Matching Donors about being in a Kidney swap. They are going to draw my blood and Zachary’s and put us in the system. But first we need to get his final results on his Antibodies.

Zachary is A+………….. Please get the word out.. this is going to be Zachary’s biggest fight of all to find him a perfect match….

Yesterday Zachary had a Doctors appointment with the Pulmonologist “Lung DR”. I felt bad for the other patients that were waiting after us. Two hours later with looking at old X-rays and Old Medical charts all the Dr could say was he is very complicated and has been through a lot. Zachary now has Chronic Lung damage from Aspirating and NO will do another Nissenfundleplacation to fix him. Zachary has had Two Nissens and his last one didn’t go as planned and they perforated his stomach and had to do a Nissen take down. So now Zachary has been Aspirating fluid and food into his Lungs. He has had a chronic cough since April of 2009 when he had the Nissen take down. Zachary Laranoux the back of throat is swollen and he has a hard time swallowing. This is the damage from him having chronic severe reflux.

The Plan is to admit him for some more test and try to figure out another plan. When he going to be admitted we are not sure.

Now with the Kidney… Zachary’s Kidney is not a good Kidney he is now on 39 medications daily. He has very bad and little blood flow to the Kidney. The Kidney DRS said he had the WORST rejection that you could have with a Transplanted Kidney so it is going to be VERY VERY hard to find a match. They are coming up with a special plan for him for this next transplant. Next week we should get back all of his Anti-body results and get the ball rolling to start testing. They are also going to list him on the National Deceased donor list for a cadaver Kidney. I never imaged in a Million years that we would ever be sitting in this position. The Drs. said that it could take 100,s of people being tested to find a match for Zachary. We are very terrified and scared for him, we are also very hopefully.. There are so many wonderful people out there that have already come forward letting us know that they want to get tested. We are also most likely going public with TV and News paper Articles because he is going to be so hard to find that match.

Next week we will have more answers and numbers for people to call to get tested. They also told us that Wades immediate side of the family would most likely not be suitable because Zachary has built anti-bodies to Wades Kidney and anybody related to Wade would most likely not be suitable. They will still test but they told us not to get our hopes up.

We are so scared and now we are going to be one of those 100,000 families waiting for that one call that could save Zachary’s life. I fear that we could be one of the 17 families that did not get the call. Please get the word out about Zachary and let people know that there are 100,000 people waiting for that same call.

Oh, I almost forgot… Today when Zachary had his labs drawn he was very shaky his heart was racing and he was dizzy. When I called for results the nurse told me that his Glucose was 46! very critical. How interesting, he is on 24 hr J-tube feeds and this has been going on for about a month… No one ever thought about checking his Glucose level.
Well today at his appointment they sent us home with a Glucose Machine so we need to check him throughout the day and when he is having a fast heart and is dizzy.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, This is going to be a long road but I know we are going to get through this.. We always do….Zachary is one MIRACLE and he is still smiling through all of this.
Thank you,
Stacey

We are still home, Zachary is feeling much better. He had his labs drawn today and I thought they looked better but the Transplant coordinator didn’t seem to think so. Zachary is down on his weight from 40lbs to 38lbs. I was unable to feed his through his J-tube because his food was backing up form his J to his G-tube. Well , It’s hard to feed a kid that is not feeling good. I was able to give him water so he was really hydrated.
The plan is tomorrow we go the the U of M to see a Lung DR because of this cough that nobody can seem to get rid of. Then on Wednesday we are back in to see GI and the Kidney DR.
I still have not got Zachary’s Anti-bodies back. The Dr I talked to day said it can take up to 7 days to get the full report back…. I hate this waiting game….. Hopefully on Wednesday I will get more answers.

Zachary had school today, he was a little more tired and almost fell a sleep during class time. he laid his head on the table and his little eyes were trying so hard to stay open. After school he laid on the couch and watched a movie.

The rest of the family is doing pretty good.. Kiley is doing her Gymnastic and next month she starts competing again. Austin is busy with school 3 days a week and loves to go… he is my little Artist, every time I turn my head i have a new color on the wall or table or on the floor. Wade has been busy working and trying to get the yard cleaned up for winter. Thank you Kenny for helping us…and for me.. just trying to keep up with all of Zachary’s meds and everyday living.

Overall, We are very happy and thankful that we are all home as a family…..

2nd Update…. We are home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why i am not sure.. He puked all the way home… so plan is to hopefully make it through the night, and bring him back for a new J-tube.

Update… J-tube is in the intestines, no one can explain why he is throwing up milk. But that is Zachary for you..
now they are running a UA to check his urine. If this is negative, then we might get to go home.

We are sitting here in the ER. Not fun , but this is life.
Labs creatinine still 2.4 way to high
White count 15.2 very high
Lymphocytes 4 very low
Neutrophils 94 very high
Infection mostly…

X-ray of chest… Streaky and spotty with junk
X-ray of Stomach…. Not a good one, so we are heading down for another.. I think Zachary is going to start to glow with all of the radiation that he has been expose to.

The reason why we came in for the first place was Zachary has been throwing up Milk.. He is on J-tube feeds. Nothing goes into the stomach.. Most likely his j-tube has migrated into the stomach.

The Plan …. Still waiting… another X-ray and than we are heading up to 5A. Zachary most likely needs a new J-tube. He will need to be hooked up to IV fluids to hydrate him until they can get him in for surgery on Monday.

i will update later when I will update later when I know more.

Thank you,
Stacey Elsenpeter
