Help Zachary      Zach needs a new kidney!!!
Mar 17, 2009

Zachary had a rough night with pain and being really itchy from the narcotics, I had to rub his poor little tummy and head all night. I feel so bad that he is starting all over from a recovery stand point. Then DRS came in and all they keep saying is your Zach is such a little fighter with all that he has been through.

Zachary will start TPN again for about another week and hopefully get him back on his J-tube feeds, depending on if his stomach will work again properly. Being on TPN is really hard on Zachary’s Transplanted Kidney and now that he is in Kidney Failure again it is even harder on him.  Zachary is still having high Blood Pressure again even with him being on 5 Blood Pressure Meds! I am trying to get Cardiologists involved to make sure his heart is handling all this stress.

The plan is in 3 days to do a die study to see if his stomach or esophagus is still leaking if not we will try to give Zachary small sips of water to see what happens. We are having a hard time keeping Zach here at the U of M and are ready to Transfer him to Mayo, the U of M has made too many mistakes. The nurese here are wonderful but the DRS need to communicate alittle better.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers, Please keep Lynnea in your prayers she is 4 months old  and is on a heart-Lung bybass machine   www.callisonchronicle.blogspot.com

Keep up the good fight Zach! You are constantly in our thoughts & prayers.

Stacey, good call with transfering to Mayo. Having a new set of DRS sounds like the right approach based on all the set backs of late. Please give Zach a hug from us.

Definitely take him to Mayo. Dr. Balcom recommended them. It’s worth a shot for Zachary. It can’t get any worse, right? It won’t. He needs a 2nd opinion and fast. Keep on fighting for him!!!

Dear Wade and Stacey: I’m a little confused—is Zach’s kidney problems indicative of a need for a new one? Or does kidney failure mean it just needs a little fixing up? Just want you to know that I’d cough up one of my kidneys up in a heart beat for your little guy. You give Zach a hug from me, would you?

What a tough little guy you are. Lots of love and prayers are coming your way sweet Zach!

Zachary is the epitome of a strong fighter!!

Keep up your strength as well.

I have to agree – sounds like a 2nd opinion/going to Mayo would benefit Zachary.

Our thoughts are with you guys!!
