Zachary on Drugs!
..
Zachary has had a busy day with DRS in and out of his room. Zach is such a rare case that now they want to write a paper about him and his Nissen surgery that went wrong!! We are not going home anytime soon; It could be awhile . The U of M DRS contacted other DRS about Zachary’s Nissen that has gone wrong. It is not normal for a child or anyone to throw up 70-100 times a day and not able to even swallow your own saliva. Zachary is tired and worn out he is down to 34lbs and is very weak.
So the plan is to put a N-G tube down his nose to the top part of the esophagus and hook him up to continues suction until Monday, than on Monday Zachary will have another surgery, The DRS will put a long tube down his esophagus with a balloon on the end and blow the balloon up to dilate the esophagus, The surgery will be done once a week for up 2 months. Yes I did say once a week for up two months or even longer depending on how long it will take. I am so pissed that I can hardly type.
The reasons why they need to hook him up to continues suction his to protect his lungs from aspiration.
Update- The DRS just put the N-g tube into Zachary’s nose, Zach did have some problems after they put the tube in with being to Drugged up. Zachary’s sat’s dropped fast and he was having trouble breathing, I have never seen DRS and nurses run so fast to suction him out and to give him O2.
Pleas pray for Zachary so his esophagus will open and his stomach will start to work again,
Thank you for your prayers,
Stacey
