Help Zachary      Zach needs a new kidney!!!
Mar 03, 2009

Zachary is having a better night with some  baby steps forward.  Zachary is just starting his TPN for nutrition, this is day 6 with no food and he is losing weight. He is now down to 35.5lb from 39.5 not good.  He is still throwing up about every 30mins -so the DRS are still keeping a close on that.  The DRS stopped  his pain meds and acouple others this morning because of him Hallucinating. Zachary went 6 hours without anything and was in lots of pain.  I was rubbing his back and we had hot packs on his tummy and back. Finally at 5 they decided that he needed to be back on them.  He has not Hallucinated  at all  tonight ,so that is good! I was getting a little scared because he was describing the people that he was seeing. The Nurses think that he is maybe seeing angels or somthing.  He is not scared when he sees them so that is good.  Zachary has not passed any gas yet, his tummy is getting big and hard.  We need him to pass gas so we can start to feed him.

I talked to the DRS about the light at the end of the tunnel, and are ticket out of here . He said that Zachary needs to-

1)  pass gas

2) no more fevers ! he still has a low grade going on day 5

3) no more throwing up

4) pain under control

5) tolerate him G-tube feeds

6) no more Hallucinating

7) walk with no help

8) poop

9) Tolerate his meds down his G-tube

10) HELP!! I think we are going to be here for a while.

Stay strong everyone!

I am so happy to hear that he is doing a little better. Hopefully, day by day, he will continue to improve so that you can all go home! I think about you often Stacey, I know how terribly hard it is to be there and to watch your baby in pain. It is hard at the moment to see how much this will help his kidney because of all that is going on. Sending lots of hugs and prayers for you and for Zachary!

Keep those baby steps moving forward! Thank you for the updates! We think about you all often and continue to pray for Zach!

Baby steps, baby steps, baby steps. That’s all he can do. It’s so good to hear that the baby steps are continuing!! He will do it Stacy!! I know those were angels that he was describing. They were there to hold him and protect him and make sure he was not scared. He is in great hands with God!! God will take care of him! Continue to believe!! Hang on to HOPE!! I think those 26 medications, some combination, were causing all those hallucinations. I hope you were able to talk to the pharmacist and Drs and figure this out. Praying and praying that you can start checking off your list each of those items. One day at a time. One moment at a time. HUGS to you all!!

wow, what a hero he is, and I just keep hoping the road gets easier. I glad that the hallucinations have not stopped, but not too surprised if hes not stooling with all the vomit the poor kido has to endure. It is a long list, and I know the fear and the exhaustion makes you want to run…but I know that you will check each of those things off day by day! Hang in there, we are always thinking of you, and any spare minute we are sending out more prayers. May the angels continue to give Zach comfort and you hope for the bright future that is hanging around the corner! Hugs, Jill
